Event Description
The Fest is back with its signature event - A 24-hour long Hackathon! 🎉
The Hackathon will be a two-day event involving a 24-hour long coding sprint followed by presentation and judging. This will be an onsite hackathon held on the premises of BUET. Mentors and workshops for each segment will be arranged, so beginners are highly encouraged to participate. Teams consist of 2-3 participants and participants need to be university students. The segments for this year's Hackathon are - DevOps, API and Web3. For further information please checkout the event and rulebook before registration!

Haven't heard of Web3?
Web3 is an idea for a new iteration of the World Wide Web which incorporates concepts such as decentralization, blockchain technologies and token-based economics.
What's DevOps?
DevOps is a set of practices, tools, and a cultural philosophy that automate and integrate the processes between software development and IT teams.
What's API and Cloud Computing?
A Cloud API is a software interface that allows developers to link cloud computing services together. Application programming interfaces (APIs) allow one computer program to make its data and functionality available for other programs to use.
Segments
DevOps
Participants will be given a basic application and asked to build a CI/CD pipeline which might include:
- Deployment,integration,testing and monitoring
- Make the workflow more seamless
- System's ability to handle different kinds of workloads
API & Cloud Services
Participants will leverage existing APIs and cloud services to build a solution to a given problem statement.
- Include prevalent AI tasks offered by popular cloud providers
- Integrate social media through APIs/SDKs
- Architect application according to the problem statement
Web3 & Blockchain
Participants will implement an application requiring decentralization disintermediation and/or or transparency.
- Implement a smart contract
- Build frontend to interact with contracts
- Additional tasks leveraging other web3 technologies
Frequently Asked Questions
Who can participate?
Any university student can apply to the hackathon.
Will this be an onsite or online event?
This will be an onsite event. The venue is the ECE campus of BUET.
Can beginners participate?
Definitely! Beginners are highly encouraged as we will arrange workshops and have mentors who are industry professionals who will help participants onsite.
Can I register for multiple segments?
Participants can register for multiple segments but they will only be selected to participate in a single segment for the Hackathon.
What will happen after I register?
After submitting the form participants can modify the input until the final date of registration. After the registration period is over we will perform an initial screening and decide the participants for onsite Hackathon.
What are the rules for team formation?
Teams consist of 2-3 participants. Each participant must be enrolled in a university at the time of registration. Participants forming a team can be of different universities.
Which segment is suitable for me?
To find the most suitable segment we recommend going through our Rulebook which contains an overview and resources for each segment.
Do I need to pay a registration fee?
A small registration fee will be required for the onsite participants. It can be found on the facebook event details and it will be kept affordable to encourage participation.
What will the schedule be like?
The Hackathon will be a two-day event with a 24 hour long coding sprint followed by presentation and judgment.
What do I need to bring the day of the event?
Participants are requested to bring laptops, chargers, multiplugs and any other necessary devices. Food, security and accommodation will be provided by us for the overnight stay.
Can I submit an existing project to the Hackathon?
No. Participants will work on solving a new problem as specified by the Hackathon team on the day of the event.
